NCISA Committee unmoved by Club’s rebate letter…
The committee of the Norwich City Independent Supporters Association (NCISA) held a scheduled meeting on Thursday 28 May 2009.
The following public statement has been released as a result of that meeting.
Regarding the matter of season ticket rebates, the committee discussed the viewpoints of other groups and individuals, but has not changed its position.
Referring to the letter to fans from club director Michael Foulger, the committee acknowledged the fact it is very plausible for anyone to offer a large amount of money to the club, but it was unhappy with the implications in Mr Foulger’s letter.
It suggested that to claim the rebate, fans might be depriving the team manager of a transfer fund. As such, this implied the fans actions could reduce the chances of success next season. The committee considered this to be emotional blackmail.
Whether or not to claim the rebate remains a matter for individuals. However, it was felt this was an opportunity for every season ticket holder who is unhappy with the way the club has been run, to send a clear message to the board by taking the rebate.
After discussing the matter of a fans’ representative on the club’s board of directors, NCISA felt that until it was possible to establish a closer working relationship between all the fans groups and associations connected with the club, it would be democratically unworkable. The committee felt that if pursued, it could cause divisions among fans at a time when stronger bonds are required.
NCISA believes it is far more important for people with the appropriate skills to be introduced to the boardroom as bona fide directors.
The committee of NCISA are still seeking a meeting with the directors of Norwich City football club.
NCISA exists to represent its members and all Norwich City fans.
