Although minutes will be posted in due course here is a brief synopsis of the meeting.
After brief reports from the acting Chairman and Treasurer and the acceptance of the accounts the meeting discussed the proposed changes to the constitution and change of name which had been recommended by the committee. A number of questions were raised and various views put forward in an interesting debate. The primary concerns raised were over the name change, as the change of emphasis towards a socially based, yet still independent, group found general approval. Concerns were expressed about the loss of the old name and the feeling that the new one was a little clumsy. Acting Chairman Robin Sainty accepted all points raised but explained that the committee felt that the name change was central to progress as, although it was a compromise, it represented a “line in the sand”. This was accepted by the meeting and all changes were eventually approved by clear majorities, albeit with several abstentions. The organisation will henceforth be called Independent Norwich City Supporters Club.
Robin Sainty was elected Chairman, with Kathy Blake and Clare Williamson re elected as Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Each committee member then gave a short speech and all were elected. The committee is Diane Blazier, Daphne Griffith, Emma Ward, Gary Smith, Robert O’Neill, Danny Sands, Mandie Thorpe and John Wilkinson.
Following the formal AGM a highly entertaining Q&A session with Chris Lakey, Head of Sport at Archant, and Michael Bailey, a regular reporter of City games, took place.
A lot of ground was covered and lots of interesting insights into the world of sports coverage were given.
